Lois Maag Joins Committee for Children Board

Lois Maag has joined the board of directors of Committee for Children, a Seattle-based nonprofit whose programs advancing the social, intellectual, and physical well-being of children are used in 25,000 schools in 21 countries.

"Lois brings a wealth of valuable marketing, community relations, and fundraising experience and expertise to Committee for Children, as well as a deep belief in our mission," said Joan Cole Duffell, executive director.

As Starbucks Corporation’s first community affairs manager, Maag was responsible for its local and national community affairs strategy and managed the team responsible for contributions, volunteerism, and workplace giving. Before joining Starbucks, she was responsible for communications, public affairs, and brand marketing at Seattle Center.

Maag is a member of the United Way of King County Community Impact Council for Children and Families, the United Way Strengthening our Communities Transition Team, Leadership Tomorrow, and the Phinney Center Capital Campaign Marketing Committee.

"Committee for Children has created an opportunity to help children learn and cope with the stresses of everyday life,"said Maag. "These learnings create an emotional base for children that will help them through their teenage years, adulthood, and parenthood, and the more we can do to help children early, the better for them and society as a whole," she added.
