Seattle, WA—Committee for Children has named Alayne Sulkin, publisher of Parent Map magazine, and Yoko Miyashita, corporate counsel for Getty Images, to its board of directors.

Committee for Children is a 30-year-old nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering the social and emotional development, safety, and well-being of children through education and advocacy. Its research-based anti-violence, anti-bullying, and child abuse prevention programs, which include the acclaimed SECOND STEP program, reach more than 9 million children worldwide.

Before publishing the popular local magazine Parent Map, Sulkin managed the publication Seattle’s Child, which was sold in 1999. Sulkin also serves on the UW Institute for Learning and Brain Science, UW Center for Infant Mental Health, and Hartman Institute (in Jerusalem).

At Getty Images, Miyashita provides legal and business affairs support for the company, focusing on strategic transactions, intellectual property matters, and Asia-Pacific operations. Before joining Getty Images, Miyashita was an associate with Perkins Coie LLP.

“We are very excited about the addition of these two capable leaders to our board,” said Joan Cole Duffell, executive director. “They each bring unique talents and perspectives, and both are passionate advocates for our work.”
