RGK Foundation
Grants Committee Meets December 4, 2009
Implementation of the SECOND STEP, STEPS TO RESPECT, TALKING ABOUT TOUCHING, or WOVEN WORD programs could fit into many of the priorities listed by the RGK Foundation, an independent foundation created by Ronya and Dr. George Kozmetsky. In education, the foundation emphasizes formal K–12 education programs (particularly reading and literacy). In its community priority, the foundation supports abuse prevention and youth development programs.

Early childhood development is of particular interest to the foundation in the area of human services. Foundation-supported youth development programs typically include after-school educational enrichment programs that supplement and enhance formal education systems to increase the chances for successful life outcomes.

The foundation prefers that prospective applicants complete an electronic Letter of Inquiry from its Web site to start the application process. Nonprofit organizations, such as PTAs or school foundations, are eligible to apply.

The Lawrence Foundation
Applications due October 31
The Lawrence Foundation is focused on making grants to support education, health, human services, and other causes, with the opportunity to support other diverse areas on an occasional basis. The foundation is unusual in that it makes both program and operating fund grants.

Grant applications can be submitted using the Common Grant Application. The Lawrence Foundation has issued a general waiver for all grant seekers applying to their foundation, which means they will not be charged to apply to The Lawrence Foundation using this Web-based application.

American Psychological Foundation
Applications due June 1, 2010
One of the stated aims of The American Psychological Foundation’s (ASF) Violence Prevention and Intervention Grant is to "support the implementation of innovative community programs aimed at preventing violence." The foundation says that "Special consideration will be given to programs with a strong foundation in violence prevention and intervention research and those that have, or show promise for, broad-based community support." This grant could help with funding for the STEPS TO RESPECT, SECOND STEP, and TALKING ABOUT TOUCHING programs.

Applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or educational institutions or those affiliated with such an organization. Download the request for proposals for online submission instructions.
