The NEW, research-based SECOND STEP program for middle school teaches:

- Emotion management and coping
- Problem solving, decision making, and goal setting
Media-Rich Lessons
Fully-scripted lessons require minimal prep time and are used in tandem with an all-new DVD. Informational video clips, dramatic vignettes, skill-practice demonstrations, and interviews with real students bring the lesson content to life and keep students’ attention. The curriculum also incorporates a variety of teaching strategies, including:
- Group discussion
- Individual, partner, and group activities
- Interactive exercises, games, and skill practice
Lesson content and learning strategies align with academic and life-skills standards. Lessons include ideas for integrating skills into language arts, social studies, health/science, and media literacy.
