Success Story:
Office Referrals Down 73 Percent

Dr. Alice Erickson, School Psychologist/Elementary Support Specialist
Sunnyland Elementary
Bellingham, WA

Dr. Alice Erickson, School Psychologist (known as "Dr. Ali" to her students) knew that Sunnyland Elementary School needed "a program to decrease bullying and aggression schoolwide." So Dr. Ali chose the STEPS TO RESPECT program, and is very happy with the results.

"I am delighted with the friendship emphasis and focus on respectful behavior. Teaching the role of a bystander as part of the problem or part of the solution has had a huge impact. Recognition and refusal skills have increased significantly. The program has affected the entire school culture. Students have become active bystanders, and teachers can coach both the child who bullies and the child who was bullied."

And the best part? "We have decreased office referrals 73 percent over a period of three years."
