Cailin Currie, PhD

Senior Research Scientist

Dr. Cailin Currie is a developmental psychologist and education researcher with a background in children’s and adults’ social-emotional development and well-being. She leads research for Committee for Children’s Second Step® Elementary digital program, a social-emotional learning (SEL) program for Grades K–5. A core part of Dr. Currie’s work includes talking with educators and students to learn what keeps them engaged and motivated in a school environment.

Some of her recent work focuses on examining mindfulness in the classroom, the teacher-student relationship, and how to help children and adults develop healthy coping strategies. Throughout the Winter Well-Being series, Dr. Currie leverages the latest SEL and development research to get at the root of what’s needed to support educators’ success in the classroom this winter and beyond.
