SEATTLE—Committee for Children (CFC), the global leader in research-based social-emotional learning (SEL), has forged a new partnership with the International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP) to host the IIRP 2020 World Conference from October 14-16 in Bellevue, Washington.

“We are excited to have Committee for Children as the host for the IIRP 2020 World Conference in Bellevue,” said John W. Bailie, president of the IIRP. “Committee for Children’s work in social emotional learning and commitment to fostering healthy communities is very much aligned with our own mission, and we look forward to our collaboration in making the conference a success.”

The 2020 conference, which attracts roughly 700 attendees annually, will feature welcoming remarks by CEO of Committee for Children, Colleen Oliver, and presentations on a range of topics related to the emerging social science of restorative practices: social-emotional learning, facilitating challenging conversations, equity in education, restorative justice and law, community health, and more.

“When SEL and restorative practices intersect, they can create positive outcomes that transform communities across the globe,” said Oliver. “This partnership offers the opportunity to really showcase how our organization, and others in the region, innovate in these growing fields. I’m excited to see the many ways our greater Seattle community will support the conference.”

The International Institute for Restorative Practices currently seeks proposals for breakout sessions and poster presentations for the 2020 World Conference. Committee for Children encourages speakers, especially those from local and regional organizations, to apply by the deadline of March 11, 2020.
