The Imagine Neighborhood Tops Apple Podcasts’ New and Noteworthy List

New Podcast Helps Kids Navigate Big Feelings During the COVID-19 Pandemic

SEATTLE, WA—May 27, 2020—Yesterday, The Imagine Neighborhood, a new edutainment podcast from Committee for Children, a global leader in the field of social-emotional learning (SEL), surged to the top of Apple Podcasts’ New and Noteworthy list. The podcast rose more than 150 ranks overnight.

The podcast series has 18 episodes, with more on the way. The episodes are perfect for families to listen to together on summer road trips, while running errands, or while sitting at home on a rainy day.

The Imagine Neighborhood is based on Second Step, the award-winning SEL curriculum from Committee for Children. The podcast’s 15-minute episodes are full of zany characters and fun stories that help kids and grown-ups learn how to manage big emotions, build relationships with empathy, solve problems, and grow their emotional intelligence.

“The show’s popularity highlights the power of storytelling in helping us connect with one another when we’re more isolated than ever,” says Scotty Iseri, the creator and host of the podcast. “The language we use helps grown-ups have discussions about anything that’s making their children feel anxious. There’s a lot of uncertainty in the world. And while no one really has all the answers, it’s important to let your kids know that they are loved, that it’s okay to feel their feelings, and that you’re there to help. Sometimes it’s enough to just say, ‘I hear you.’”

With the outbreak of COVID-19, families want more screen-free opportunities to connect with their kids about difficult topics. The Imagine Neighborhood has risen to the challenge. Since its launch in March, more than 100,000 families have downloaded the episodes and more than 3,000 schools have added the podcast to their official remote learning rosters.

More than 70 listeners have left appreciative reviews in iTunes, like these:

Listeners can download episodes for free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, and Stitcher, or anywhere podcasts are found.
