Captain Compassion® Is Back!

Committee for Children is excited to introduce the 2021 installment of the Captain Compassion® bullying prevention comic series. This engaging, educational resource is designed for children and adults to read and discuss together.

We’ll release this year’s comics weekly throughout October, which is National Bullying Prevention Month. Follow along as bullying prevention superhero Captain Compassion and her sidekick Kid Kinder® teach kids how to activate their upstander power by learning to recognize, report, and refuse bullying.

The comics are free and available for download at CaptainCompassion.org, where you’ll also find videos, posters, relevant research, and a social media toolkit to help you talk about topics like cyberbullying and racially motivated bullying.

Crack the Code and Win a Prize!

In addition to the compelling story and illustrations that bring real-world situations to life, each week’s Captain Compassion comic contains a hidden, coded word for kids to find. Kids can download the Secret Decoder Wheel from CaptainCompassion.org and use it to decode each week’s word, then enter our sweepstakes to win a prize.

How Kids Can Enter

  1. Visit CaptainCompassion.org and download the Secret Decoder Wheel.
  2. Watch this video and follow the instructions to construct the Secret Decoder Wheel.
  3. Look for the hidden word in each week’s Captain Compassion comic.
  4. Collect all five words and use the Secret Decoder Wheel to reveal the message.

Submit the solution to us via direct message on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram by October 31 to enter our sweepstakes. The prize is a one-of-a-kind illustration with Captain Compassion!

You, Too, Can Be a Bullying Prevention Superhero!

Compassion. Bravery. Resilience. We can all access these strengths in ourselves and support their growth in others when we learn and practice social-emotional and bullying prevention skills.

As adults, it’s up to us to model and teach kids the skills they need to prevent bullying and be inclusive and kind. Thank you for doing your part to create safe and supportive learning environments for every child.

Together, we can help prevent bullying.

With gratitude,
