Stronger Together in 2023

Happy New Year! I hope you were able to rest, recharge, and spend meaningful time with loved ones. You’ve given so much of yourselves to students, their families, and your communities through some of the most challenging times. Committee for Children remains steadfast in supporting your and your students’ well-being. As we kick off 2023, we’re asking ourselves how we can best serve you in ways that strengthen your social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies in the classroom and deepen the partnership between educators and families so we can all help kids be more than just okay.

Recently, I sat down with a few educators who lead SEL efforts for their school communities. In this short video, you’ll see highlights of that conversation where we discussed their experiences in the classroom and how SEL can make a difference.

I hope the voices of these educators inspire you and leave you feeling a sense of camaraderie as they did for me during our time together. I also hope that as we continue to work with you and collaborate to support education communities and families, you’ll continue sharing your voice with us so we can learn and grow together. It’s important to us to hear your perspectives and insights. In fact, I believe fostering a strong connection with and hearing critical feedback from our community of educators, families, and advocates is crucial in order for Committee for Children to be the strongest partner we can be in our work to support children’s success in school and in life. As we begin this new year, let’s build and deepen our connections as we move forward together on this journey to build a safer, more just, and peaceful world.

I am reminded each day of the power of SEL through our work together. That work affords me the unique opportunity to witness the far-reaching, long-lasting, positive outcomes SEL yields for our young people. Advocating for SEL and ensuring each child has access to the critical resources that will help them thrive is more important than ever. We at Committee for Children remain deeply grateful for your continued partnership in this mission.

Thank you for all you do to support the safety and social-emotional well-being of children.

With gratitude,
