Committee for Children Names First Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer Published: SEATTLE—June 28, 2022—Committee for Children, a global leader in research-based social-emotional learning (SEL) programs, has appointed Emily Holthaus as chief diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) officer, effective August 1, 2022. In this newly created role, Holthaus will join the Executive Leadership Team and report directly to Committee for Children CEO Andrea Lovanhill. “I’m ecstatic that Emily will be joining Committee for Children,” said Lovanhill. “With her background, expertise, and extensive knowledge of our DEI priorities and goals, I’m confident Emily will successfully lead strategy development and execution for our DEI vision in pursuit of our North Star Goal and becoming an anti-racist organization.” Holthaus has more than 18 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations on strategic leadership and implementing systems-level solutions to increase DEI and engagement. Previously, she served in a variety of DEI leadership positions, including director of multicultural leadership development for the YMCA of the USA, and founder and principal consultant of inclusivity as well as managing director of diversity, equity, and inclusion for Nonprofit HR. She has previously partnered with Committee for Children as a strategic advisor supporting the development of the organization’s DEI initiatives. Throughout that partnership, Holthaus was an invaluable collaborator in designing and launching the organization’s initiatives to increase staff DEI knowledge and improve practices to support a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture of belonging. “I’m truly excited to join Committee for Children as its first chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer,” said Holthaus. “Committee for Children has demonstrated a strong commitment to DEI through action and words, setting its intent through a bold DEI vision and consistently utilizing an equity lens to increase access to programs, content, and services.” As Chief DEI Officer, Holthaus will lead Committee for Children’s systems-level DEI visioning and strategy development to help make the organization more effective, high-performing, and globally inclusive.
