The Power of Kindness

Download Comic

Back at school, Jake walks outside the school building with Captain Compassion. A crowd of students mingle in the background.

“Wow!” Jake says. “The Kindness Challenge has really brought everyone together!”

“Kindness has a way of creating a positive ripple effect,” Captain Compassion replies.
Holding up his smartphone, Jake films fellow student Kasim as Captain Compassion watches. “Kasim! What do you think of the Kindness Challenge?” Jake asks.

“I used to focus only on myself, but your videos showed me the joy of being kind to others,” Kasim replies.
Three students stand in the foreground chatting, including a girl in polka dots that Jake bullied in the past. In the background, Jake comes to a halt.

“Hey, it’s the polka dot girl from the mall,” he says to Captain Compassion, embarrassed. “I hope she’s doing better.”

Captain Compassion puts her arm around Jake and encourages him. “Go talk to her,” she says.
“I’m sorry for what I said about your clothes,” Jake tells the girl in polka dots.

“I appreciate your apology,” she says. “It means a lot.”
The students smile and gather with Captain Compassion and Kid Kinder in front of a mural that says Recognize, Report, Refuse.

Kid Kinder says, “Remember: bullying is intentional, repeated, negative behavior. It’s important to recognize, report, and refuse bullying when you see it.”
The students cheer and say together, “We believe in the power of kindness!”

“You should join us in the Kindness Challenge,” Jake says to Kasim. “It has really helped me understand the power of kindness.”
