About Us

Our Mission
Committee for Children seeks to foster the social and emotional development, safety, and well-being of children through education and advocacy.

Our nonprofit organization develops and publishes programs and curricula for children from preschool through middle school about social skills, bullying, and sexual abuse, in addition to an emergent literacy program for young children.

We are based in Seattle, Washington, but our programs are now used at 25,000 schools in 21 nations and regions around the world, such as Japan, Norway, and Kurdistan.

Since the 1970s, we've been partnering with experts at leading universities and institutes to explore healthy child development and the link between academic achievement and social and emotional competency.

Our programs focus on the essential skills of empathy, impulse control, anger management, problem solving, personal safety, and emergent literacy. Each program takes a unique approach that is based on extensive research to help children succeed in school and in life.

We also conduct evaluation research, provide training and ongoing support to educators and parents, and develop assessment tools for schools and agencies.

We encourage you to explore our site and learn how you can help us promote the social and emotional development, safety, and well-being of children.
